Many families have access to childcare vouchers. If a nanny is Ofsted registered, she can accept these as part of her salary. To register with Ofsted, a nanny must hold (as a minimum) common core skills training in childcare, paediatric first aid, a DBS check registered with the update service, and nanny insurance.
As the employer receives the financial benefit of the nanny’s registration, we recommend the employer covers the cost of registration (£105 per year) with the nanny paying the associated costs (DBS check, first aid and insurance).
Click here to apply for Ofsted registration. Please contact Rosebud Nanny Agency for a step by step guide through the Ofsted registration process.
Rosebud Nanny Agency can apply for a DBS check on your behalf following your registration meeting. However, if you are not registered / prefer to apply yourself, this can be done via the site below. Please ensure you register your DBS certificate with the update service, also below.
Rosebud Nanny Agency recommends two local first aid trainers. Both run paediatric first aid courses that meet the requirements for Ofsted registration, and are valid for 3 years.
Jacqui Dilley offers half of the training online followed by 1 day with Jacqui in Dunstable, or at your home (for a group of 6 or more).
Sarah McGuinness uses venues across Hertfordshire or can run courses at your home (for a group of 6 or more). The course runs over two days.
Both first aid trainers offer a £5 discount if you mention Rosebud Nanny Agency at time of booking.
Common Core Skills Training
If you would like to apply for Ofsted registration but do not hold a Childcare qualification, you can take the Ofsted compliant Level 1 Common Core Skills Course. (Please note if you hold a level 2 or 3 in childcare, you do not need a separate Common Core Skills Course, as they are covered by your existing Certificate).
There are two ways to do Common Core Skills – either online or as a 1 day course.
BabyEm offer Common Core Skills training in London or online – contact Rosebud Nanny Agency for a 10% discount code.
Norma Lewis Training runs courses in both Bushey and Finchley.
